On June 8th, 2011, juries selected ten companies from 129 entries in three categories as winners of the Intersolar Award at the Intersolar Europe trade show in Munich

In the "Solar Thermal Technology" category, the winners were Absolicon Solar Concentrator AB (Härnösand, Sweden), Dr. Vetter Gesellschaft für Medizinische Datentechnik, Bio- und Umwelttechnik mbH (Baden-Baden, Germany) and a joint project by Savo-Solar Oy (Mikkeli, Finland) and Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing (Tønder, Denmark).

Finally, in the "PV Production Technology" category, the jury selected Decker Anlagenbau GmbH (Berching, Germany), Manz Automation AG (Reutlingen, Germany) and NanoFocus AG (Oberhausen, Germany).

 

Entries judged on technical innovation, benefit to industry and society

The Intersolar prize is awarded annually by Intersolar Europe organizers Solar Promotion GmbH (Pforzheim, Germany) and Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristic und Messe GmbH & Co. KG (Freiburg, Germany) in collaboration with the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar).

Juries were composed of experts from research, science, industry and the trade press. Entries were judged on the degree of technical innovation, the benefit for industry, the environment and society, the profitability of the solution and its innovative quality.

 

Water purification system, automated PV production plant among winners

Autarcon was chosen for its SuMeWa|System, a water treatment system which generates its own power, using electrolytically-generated chlorine to sterilize water.

Likewise, Manz Automation won the Intersolar prize on the merits of its Manz One Step SE, a fully automated production plant which uses a laser-based process to generate heavily doped emitters in crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic (PV) cells.

Finally, in the Solar Thermal Technology Category, Absolicon Solar Collector AB was chosen for its Absolicon X10 PVT, a concentrating PVT collector that combines solar power generation with the use of solar heat.
